Programmatic components are derived from precedent case studies, as well as the needs/ goals of the client, and focus on the spatial allocations for the Nashville Children's Art Museum. Programmatic elements are broken down into seven components: Lobby, Retail, Exhibits, Studios, Dining, Administration, and Support. Each component is analysed through a bubble diagram, which describes the spatial accommodations needed for design, and a matrix which reflects the acoustical/ visual privacy, the accessibility, and the activity levels of each space. Preliminary square footage and furniture requirements are explored through the use of prototypicals and standard furniture, furnishings, and equipment. This analysis summarizes the needs for visual connections through exhibit and studio spaces as well as the effects of form, function, time, and economy on the facility.
